There's a number of schematics out there. I'd suggest looking at the schematics for recent products such as moving lights from some of the larger manufacturer's support websites (hint, hint).

Wybron has made their Responder sample code available.

I would also highly suggest coming to the RDM Plugfest in Dallas as you'll get a chance to get a lot of first hand knowledge and experience from everyone.
